Ava Overcame Her Academic Challenges Through Purposeful S.T.E.M. Play
Ava The S.T.E.M. Princess®, the 11-year-old founder of Team Genius Squad, has faced academic challenges for several years. These challenges affected her interactions with teachers and peers, as she was often singled out, teased for not grasping classroom material, and excluded from friendships for not fitting the mold. Struggling to identify her strengths and learning style led to feelings of discouragement and low self-esteem.
Despite these setbacks, Ava's love for acting and hands-on activities became the spark that encouraged her to approach learning differently. By using visual aids like videos, writing mini scripts, and tapping into her creativity—whether it was executing S.T.E.M. experiments, designing products, singing, or bringing joy to others—Ava found her niche. In June 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, she released her first S.T.E.M. experiment video on YouTube titled “How to Make Hand Sanitizer at Home,” which received an overwhelming response.
This success led Ava to create a full S.T.E.M. video series, featuring personalized skits, easy-to-follow experiments, and entrepreneurial tutorials, all designed to inspire and educate young minds.
